EXTREMIST GROUP NOT WANTED IN MALAYSIA

The entire Muslim community last week celebrates Maulidur Rasul. Various activitiesand events are being held in spiritually executing the teachings of the Messenger of Allah SAW to his followers.

At the same time, February 14th, two events were celebrated almost at the same time
with Maulidur Rasul. One is Valentine Day( for non-Muslim) and the other is World Interfaith
Harmony Week. The late of our national warrior, Lef.Adnan Mohd Saidi also in our memories.

Although there is a minor controversy on the celebration of Valentine Day due to
the difference in religious belief, it has not created any tension.
The reason why there is no such tension is because Malaysia does not practice
religious fanaticism.

The society of various religious backgrounds – Muslims, Buddhists, Christians,
Hindus and other believers are in good relationship with each other since a long
time ago. Although there are occasional rift taking place among them, it is
settled in quick fashion.

It is often reminded that if there is religious and racism extremist group in the country,
it will bring devastation not only to the country but also the entire world.
We should be thankful that such phenomenon doesn’t take place in Malaysia. As
explained by the Prime Minister, the source of racial tension in certain country
is not because of religious differences but the extremist teaching and line of
thinking.

Malaysia has shown that the different religious beliefs of its people not
necessarily brings major problem to the country.
Human relationship among people of various ethnic, race and religious is
necessary in order to create solidarity and harmonious living among the society.
In the early stage of Islam, the Messenger of Allah S.A.W had established good
relationship with other races like the Jews and Christians and penned agreement
with non-Muslim governments.

Although there is religious gap, the value system of togetherness that occurred
is capable of posturing communal peace and harmony.
Once again, religious differences is not a barrier for the multi-racial society
to carry out joint programme like confronting the issue of drug abuse, reducing
crime rate or creating clean environment.

Religious issue can be equated to fire – a friend when it is still small but an
enemy when it is big. Religious issue is very sensitive and it is for this
reason that the Prime Minister wants it to be discussed within the four walls.
If these issues are to be discussed in the open, it is feared that it can be
misinterpreted and spark tension to the point that it could be difficult to
settle.

So, Malaysians should respect the differences in religious belief because it is
the essence of a harmonious living.
Indeed, the teachings of Islam preached by the Messenger of Allah SAW among
others are to be resilience, trust, transparent, reject mismanagement and hate
corruption.

The universal Islamic value should be the guiding light by the people when
discharging the trust. Tolerance among the multi-racial society should be maintained so that peace and
stability will continue to prevail in the country, Malaysia is our country.(edited by TB)
