BANGKOK POST THAILAND: NARATHIWAT CAR BOMB lNJURES 15

Fifteen people were injured when a bomb hidden inside the car parked in front of a Thai-traditional massage parlour in Narathiwat’s Muang district exploded on Saturday night, said Pol Capt Suchart Meelampong, duty officer at Muang Narathiwat police station.

Earlier, gunmen fired at a karaoke parlour on Na Nakorn road at Soi 11 in Muang district, about 100 meters from the car bomb scene, injuring two women, Pol Capt Suchart said.When a pickup truck carrying soldiers heading to the karaoke parlour to inspect the incident scene was passing the car bomb, suspected separatist militants detonated the bomb.

Luckily, the bomb went off late, after the military truck went far away and no soldier was hurt, according to the duty officer.The injured people were admitted to Narathiwat Ratchanakarin hospital.Narathiwat provincial governor Thanon Vejjakornkanont blamed separatist militants who want to incite violence in the southernmost province.(reported by:Bangkok Post,20/2/11)
